Ingredients 200 g marzipan (e.g. Lemke Simply Pure ) |
2 red apples 275 g puff pastry |
Powdered sugar for sprinkling |
|
Here's how: Roll out the marzipan flat between baking paper and then cut into thin strips. Roll out the puff pastry and cut lengthwise into strips. Core the apples, halve them, and slice or shave them thinly. Cover the first strip of puff pastry with overlapping apple slices, place marzipan strips on top, and fold over the bottom edge of the pastry. Roll up to the middle to form a rose. Then roll up the second part of the strip. Repeat the steps with the remaining dough. Place the roses in a baking pan lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (top/bottom heat) for about 30 minutes. After 15 minutes, turn off the top heat and place a sheet of baking paper on top (this prevents the roses from turning black). Sprinkle with powdered sugar while still warm. |

Tip: Baked individually in small muffin cups, they are as decorative as they are handy. |
